With the Covid-19 pandemic closing pubs across the UK and forcing Brits to stay home, our client, Crowdfunder wanted to unite socially isolated punters to come together online, whilst raising funds for the National Emergencies Trust, Coronavirus Appeal.
To hit both objectives and create a huge media buzz, Ethical Goods introduced the Guinness World Record team to the Crowdfunder team, and then assisted in the creation of an online celebrity studded, charity comedy night, where members of the public could enjoy a virtual pint.
Double Chortle winner and creator of the Covid Arms, Kiri Pritchard-Mclean hosted the virtual quiz, joined by some of the biggest names in UK comedy, including Russell Howard, Jason Manford, Lucy Beaumont, Marcus Brigstocke, Jenny Ryan and Nish Kumar.
A whopping 6,321 people attended the event online which raised £32,000 for charity. It generated 29 pieces of national and regional coverage including the Evening Standard, in addition to six pieces of international coverage including news pieces on Reuters and in the New York Times. A combined reach of over 21 million was achieved across all social media marketing channels. Both the audience and client feedback was pretty great too…
“We set up the event to celebrate the incredible community spirit and humour which sits at the heart of the British public. By bringing back the great British tradition of sharing a pint, we were able to show our support and solidarity, not only for local businesses but for the emergency services who are working so hard to keep us all safe.
We’re delighted to have raised so much money through this initiative and securing a Guinness World Records TM title in the process certainly added some extra excitement on the night.” Simon Deverell, Found & Director at Crowdfunder UK
